Say what you want about this W, but the Cubs blew an 8-0 lead. If this game is any indication on what the second half of the season is going to be like, I should drive to the hospital, set up my rewards card, and brace for impact.
In analyzing the game, the only thing I have to say is that was an absolute shitshow. I love a good home run slugfest, but there’s a time and a place. Needless to say, that place is not Camden Yards. 1-0 to kick off the 2nd half feels good, and although the Cubs suddenly remembered how to blow a lead like it was 2012, I’m optimistic. Schwarbos back and slingin it, old man Zobrist is looking kinda okay, and JHey is just doing JHey things, like hitting 1/every 10 games and making insane plays in right. It’s also good to see the Cubs Twitter GIF game back and more fire than ever.
Blowing an early lead in baseball is an occurrence worse than death, so thank god for that cheating scumbag Adi and his rope of a homer that doesn’t go out in 90% of parks.
I’m the definition of a Cubs ‘homer’, but I’ll be the first to admit, that was not a strike. A+++ frame job from Willy & God bless that late call from D.J. Reyburn (I’m acting like I know who that is, I don’t.)
Right about now, you may be saying to yourself, “shut the fuck up Luke, a win’s a win”, and you’d be 100% right. RIP Steve Goodman, play that Go Cubs Go anthem until the end of time.
Fuck that Angel-loving motherfucker Mark Trumbo.
